Sam Beats Maroon 5

Sam Smith's latest effort "The Thrill of It All" debuts atop Billboard 200 and marks the singer's first No. 1 album on the chart. The effort racked up 237,000 equivalent album units, including 185,000 units in traditional album sales in the week ending November 9, according to Nielsen Music.

The set is Sam's second studio album and the follow-up to 2014's "In the Lonely Hour", which debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 166,000 units. The new album's lead track, "Too Good at Goodbyes", arrived at No. 5 on Billboard 100, marking the singer's fifth top 10 on the chart.

Trailing behind is Maroon 5, who bows at No. 2 with their latest effort "Red Pill Blues". The set sold 122,000 equivalent album units, including 94,000 in traditional album sales. Meanwhile, Chris Brown's "Heartbreak on a Full Moon" stays steady at No. 3 in its second week with 73,000 units.

Another act who debuts on this week's Billboard 200 is Blake Shelton. His new album, "Texoma Shore", launches at No. 4 with 63,000 units. The set marks his eleventh top 10 album, following "The Dreamer", which debuted and peaked at No. 8 back in 2003.

21 Savage, Offset and Metro Boomin's surprise collaborative album, "Without Warning", slips one spot to No. 5 with 56,000 units, while Kenny Chesney's "Live in No Shoes Nation" falls from its top spot to No. 6 in its second week, racking up 52,000 units.

Kelsea Ballerini's second studio effort, "Unapologetically", arrives at No. 7 with 44,000 units, marking her first top 10 album. In addition to that, the album marks fourth top 10 album by female country singers in 2017. It follows Shania Twain's "Now" (No. 1), Alison Krauss' "Windy City" (No. 9) and Reba McEntire's "Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope" (No. 4).

Rounding out this week's top 10 are Kid Rock's "Sweet Southern Sugar", which debuts at No. 8 with 43,000 units, Post Malone's "Stoney", which dips to No. 9 with 40,000 units, and Ed Sheeran's "Divide (division sign)", which falls two spots to No. 10 with 36,000 units.
